At least 34 killed in US tornadoes

Severe tornadoes have struck several southeastern states in the United States. At least 34 people have died, including 12 in Missouri alone. The storms have overturned many cars and destroyed homes. At least eight people have died in more than 55 car accidents caused by a dust storm in Kansas. News-BBC


According to data from tracker PowerOutage, more than 170,000 homes were without power in five states, including Michigan, Missouri and Illinois, on Saturday evening. Tornado warnings have been issued across eastern Louisiana, western Georgia, central Tennessee and the western Florida Panhandle. More severe storms are expected in the region.


Governor Tate Reeves reported six deaths in Mississippi as several tornadoes hit the state.


The National Weather Service said 26 tornadoes touched down Friday night and early Saturday morning. Strong thunderstorms hit parts of Arkansas, Illinois, Mississippi and Missouri, damaging homes.Georgia Governor Brian Kemp urged residents to remain vigilant and be prepared to evacuate to a safe location at any time.
